John Narun was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and immigrated with his family to Houston, Texas, where he grew up. He attended Northwestern University, earning a combined degree in Theatre and Radio/TV/Film. After 13 years in Chicago, he relocated to Los Angeles, where his work focused on main titles, network graphics, and eventually rock concerts. He is now based in New York City, working internationally in theatre, concerts, and television.

John is also an adjunct professor of projection design at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
